“元宵节”英语怎么说？

          元宵节我们通常会挂灯笼、逛灯会，所以外国人将元宵节翻译为“Lantern Festival”，意为“灯笼节”，也可以说：“Chinese Lantern Festival”。

          用英文介绍“元宵节时”，我们可以这样说：

          Lantern Festival is an important traditional occasion, falling on the 15th day of the first month on the lunar calendar.

          元宵节是一个重要的传统节日，农历正月十五。

“元宵节”都有哪些习俗呢？

1. 吃汤圆（Eating Rice Dumplings）

          “汤圆”又名“元宵”，寓意美满团圆。吃汤圆，表达了人们对亲人的怀念，寄托了对未来生活的美好愿望。

英语中的“汤圆”也有许多种表达：

rice dumplings

sweet dumplings

sweet soup balls

glue pudding

glutinous rice balls

2. 赏花灯（Enjoying Lanterns）

          各式各样的花灯可是元宵节最重要的元素之一，这也是Lantern Festival得名由来。

如果你在北方，还有机会观赏到冰灯 ice lantern，

参加哈尔滨的“冰灯节” Ice Lantern Festival；

在台湾，元宵节流行放天灯 sky lantern。

3. 猜灯谜（Guessing Lantern Riddles）

          On the Lantern Festival, many people will carry colorful lanterns and attend the riddle-guessing contests. 元宵节时，很多人会提灯笼，去参加猜灯谜大会。

          灯谜（lantern riddles）会被贴在各式各样的灯笼上，想出答案的人，可以取下灯笼去出题人那里确认答案。猜出正确答案的人就可以得到一个小礼品，是不是很有趣呢？
